Technical Content Writer for Software Topics

We are looking for Technical Content Writers to join our team. At Wizard on Demand, we create technical articles for software companies around the world. We have a client list that includes household names in tech.

We need someone with 3-5 years of software development experience.
The areas we are currently looking for experience in:

• application security engineering
• DevOps and cloud systems administration
• databases and SQL

This role is specifically for someone who wants to write about software development based on experience in the field. You don’t need significant writing experience, but you do need sufficient development experience. Any applications without clear evidence of a minimum of 3 years in software roles will be immediately rejected.

Your schedule

This is a part time freelance flexible role. Your minimum commitment is 10 hours a week and we will need you to be available to communicate and coordinate with the team 5 days a week, Monday through Friday.

What we do for clients

We write content marketing articles in English; our staff are both native speakers and those at CEFR C1 proficiency or above.

Wizard on Demand is a 100% remote-only company. We have a small team of around ten staff currently based in Europe and North America. Your timezone needs to align with our team in Europe (CET). We do not currently accept applications from candidates residing in Asia, Australasia, or the American west coast.

Our technical content writing process

Your primary responsibility is  writing the main body of articles. You will also be involved in:

• Researching top­ics on soft­ware devel­op­ment, programming languages, and artificial intelligence. 
• Creation of outlines for 1300-word articles.
• Learning how to review and provide feedback to other writers.
• Receiving feedback from other writers and our technical editors.
• Working with our graphic designer to create informative technical illustrations for your articles.

Our teamwork tools

Writers mostly use Slack, Asana, Zoom, Google Docs, and Excalidraw.

Your technical experience

• You must have a minimum of 3 years of software development experience
• We also value a CS degree, but this is not essential
• We prefer candidates with experience in:
  • Dev Ops, modern software development practices such as CI/CD, and cloud systems administration
  • Application security
  • Databases, database administration, and SQL

We value experience in a  range of technologies as opposed to one single discipline. Why?

You will be asked to research different technologies and grasp them quickly in order to be able to communicate about them effectively through technical articles. A flare for this is something our team thrives on. We will support you in developing this skill to become a dynamic and well rounded technical writer.

Your availability

• We need you to collaborate regularly with other team members. Although we don’t have fixed hours, we do need you to be available Monday to Friday for a minimum of 2-3 hours each day
